How to convert RW2 to JPG

    1. Add your RW2 files

Drop them on the converter, click Choose files or paste from the clipboard. You can add as many as you like.

    2. Adjust the settings

Choose a JPG quality. 90% looks identical to the original for most images; 75–80% gives smaller files for email.

    3. Download your JPG files

Each file converts automatically. Save files one by one or all at once as a ZIP.

    Why convert RW2 to JPG?

RW2 is the RAW format of Panasonic Lumix cameras, including the GH and S series.

The converter uses the full-colour JPEG preview that the camera embeds inside every RAW file. On most Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Olympus cameras it is full resolution; on some Sony and Fujifilm models it is a smaller preview.

Converting to JPG gives you a file that every phone, computer, website and upload form accepts, at a size that is easy to email and share.

    Frequently asked questions

Will I lose quality converting RW2 to JPG?

JPG is lossy, so the image is re-encoded. At 85–95% quality the difference is not visible in normal viewing. You can change the quality and the files reconvert instantly.

Is this a full RAW conversion?

It extracts the JPEG image the camera stores inside the RAW file, which matches the in-camera look. It is fast and private, but it does not re-develop the raw sensor data.

Can I convert many RW2 files at once?

Yes. Add as many files as you like; each one converts automatically and you can download them all as a ZIP.

How do I open RW2 files without converting?

Panasonic’s own free software for RW2 files is SILKYPIX Developer Studio SE. Lightroom, Capture One, darktable and RawTherapee also open them. On a phone or in a browser, converting to JPG is the quickest way to view and share the photo.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. formatmath converts files with code that runs inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded, stored or seen by us.

    Is it free?
