How to convert HEIC to PNG
Add your HEIC files
Drop them on the converter, click Choose files or paste from the clipboard. You can add as many as you like.
Adjust the settings
PNG has no quality slider because it is lossless. The output keeps the full resolution of the original photo.
Download your PNG files
Each file converts automatically. Save files one by one or all at once as a ZIP.
Why convert HEIC to PNG?
PNG is lossless: every pixel decoded from the HEIC file is stored exactly as it is, with no extra compression on top. That makes PNG the safer choice when the image is going into Photoshop, Figma, Canva or a document where you will crop, annotate or edit it again.
The trade-off is size. A 12-megapixel iPhone photo that is 2 MB as HEIC can easily be 15–25 MB as PNG. If you only need to share or upload the photo, HEIC to JPG is usually the better choice.

Frequently asked questions
Is HEIC to PNG better than HEIC to JPG?
For editing and images with text, yes, because PNG adds no compression artefacts. For sharing ordinary photos, JPG is better because the files are five to ten times smaller.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the HEIC file?
HEIC uses very efficient lossy compression, while PNG stores the image losslessly. Photos with lots of fine detail compress poorly without loss, so the PNG grows large.
Does the PNG keep transparency?
Yes. Most iPhone photos have no transparent areas, but if the HEIC file has an alpha channel, for example a cut-out subject saved from the Photos app, it is preserved.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG on Windows without installing anything?
Yes. This page decodes HEIC in the browser, so you do not need the HEIF extension from the Microsoft Store or any other software.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. formatmath converts files with code that runs inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded, stored or seen by us.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no watermark and no daily limit. An account is optional and only keeps a history of your conversions.
